MicroPort NeuroScientific has introduced its Numen coil embolization system to the Egyptian market through a partnership with PentaMed. The first case using the device treated a complex, large anterior communicating artery aneurysm at Neurospitalia Hospital.
Prof. Farouk Hassan deployed seven Numen coils with Y-stenting, achieving full aneurysm occlusion and a positive clinical outcome. Numen comes in 177 specifications and is made from ultra-fine platinum-tungsten wire. Its 3D design aims to balance flexibility and support while reducing pressure on the aneurysm wall.
The design also accommodates a broad range of aneurysm shapes. The Egypt launch is part of MicroPort’s strategy to widen access to advanced neurovascular treatments in the region. Numen is now commercially available in over 30 countries and regions worldwide.
