Aeva has unveiled its new 4D LiDAR sensor, Atlas Orion, designed for demanding outdoor environments. The device meets NEMA-TS2 traffic signal control standards for long-range perception and durability.
It features a single-box design with integrated power and data over ethernet for fast, cost-efficient deployment. Aeva’s FMCW 4D LiDAR technology provides simultaneous velocity and position measurement for precise tracking.
The sensor is built for transportation safety, security, and crowd monitoring applications. Ultra Resolution technology enables high clarity and accuracy for optimizing infrastructure operations. Atlas Orion detects vehicles up to 500 metres away and vulnerable road users up to 200 metres.
It offers a 120° field of view and angular resolution of 0.05° x 0.05°. Two sensors can provide full intersection coverage, enhancing efficiency and scalability in traffic management.
Co-founder and CTO Mina Rezk said the product advances Aeva’s vision for smarter, safer, and more efficient cities. Target markets include municipalities, airports, and large security-sensitive facilities.
